Anoushka Shankar: Land of Gold

Symphony Hall, Birmingham, B1 2EA

Anoushka Shankar returns with an innovative, cutting-edge performance addressing themes around movement, asylum and refugees.

The Shankar name is synonymous with Indian classical music and the sitar.

Anoushka Shankar continues the trailblazing spirit espoused by her legendary father Ravi Shankar by pushing the limits of her instrument, both within the traditional Indian classical form and also by incorporating new sounds and art forms.

Her work has earned four Grammy® nominations and critical acclaim throughout the world.

Following the success of her 2013 album, Traces of You, Anoushka returns with an innovative, cutting-edge performance addressing themes around movement, asylum and refugees – topics that heavily inspired the creative process while she was composing the music for Land of Gold.
