Khiyo

Khiyo are a London-based band that give Bengali heritage music a modern, fresh sound.

Their repertoire is drawn from Bengali folk and genres such as Nazrul and Rabindra Sangeet while the band members’ backgrounds include South Asian and Western folk and classical traditions, rock, blues and jazz.

Fast developing a reputation as a formidable live band, Khiyo headlined at the Purcell Room during the Southbank Centre’s 2013 Alchemy Festival.

The music video for their version of Nobel Prize winning poet Rabindranath Tagore’s Amar Shonar Bangla went viral among Bengalis worldwide.

The band’s debut album is scheduled for release in 2014.
