A classical tabla virtuoso of the highest order.

A night of percussion mastery from tabla virtuoso, Zakir Hussain, who is joined by the cream of Indian percussionists.

Son of legendary Indian percussionist Ustad Alla Rakha (Ravi Shankar’s tabla player), Zakir Hussain has worked with George Harrison, Charles Lloyd, John McLaughlin and the Grateful Dead among many others, and continues to explore the links between jazz and Indian music.

‘Zakir Hussain, the peerless North Indian tabla player, favors an impish strain of virtuosity. He’s a fearsome technician but also a whimsical inventor, devoted to exuberant play.’ The New York Times

‘Simply put, Hussain is a virtuoso. He used every surface of the tabla, and every surface of the palms of his hands (fingertips, sides of his fingers, the heels of his hands) to get an incredible range of music from his instrument…’ The Oregonian

‘Whimsical, ethereal, sensual and spiritual. A musical journey that will never be forgotten.’ The Chicago Tribune

‘… almost intoxicating in its intensity. His virtuosity is barely to be believed.’ The Washington Post.
