Along with Serendipity Arts Trust and Midlands Arts Centre, Sampad has co-commissioned brand new work from Vidya, Connor and Shammi called About the Elephant, which explores our place and purpose within civilisation. There will be a Preview performance of About the Elephant at Midlands Arts Centre, before the work goes to the Serendipity Arts Festival on 18th and 19th December 2017.
(UPDATE posted Sunday 10 December: Please note that the Birmingham preview of About the Elephant on Monday 11 December at Midlands Arts Centre has now been postponed, due to a member of the artistic company being ill. We will be rescheduling the performance in the New Year and a further update will be posted as soon as possible. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused).
Serendipity is a multidisciplinary arts festival on the banks of the river Mandovi in Panaji, Goa, India. A cultural experience in itself, the festival brings together visual, performing and culinary arts. Curated by a panel of artists and institutional figures, this second edition of the festival will feature over 70 arts projects, including 40 commissioned specifically for the festival.
Piali Ray, Director of Sampad is also joining the Festival’s ‘Talking Culture‘ strand on 20th December to talk about Sampad’s role in establishing South Asian arts and artists within mainstream culture across the UK.
