On Saturday 15 July, a host of rising stars in the field of South Asian dance took to the stage at Birmingham Hippodrome for NAVADAL, Akademi’s national South Asian youth dance competition, which was run in partnership this year with One Dance UK, ISTD and Sampad as part of U.Dance 2017.
NAVADAL (meaning ‘new shoots’) aims to discover and celebrate new South Asian dance talent. This year’s competition showcased the exceptional talents of fourteen soloists and four groups who delivered captivating performances of classical Indian dance styles in an atmosphere of buzzing excitement!
