Renowned writer and Commissioning Editor, Farrukh Dhondy and award-winning scriptwriter and Film Producer, Mahmood Jamal explore the rich contents of rare and unprecedented interviews with one of the most critically acclaimed directors and authors of Indian Parallel Cinema -the ground-breaking Mrinal Sen.

In 1991 the young film and TV producer, Mahmood Jamal was dispatched to India to film a series of interviews with over 100 people significant in the development of Indian Cinema, dominant Hindi films and regional and independent cinema. A series of unexpected circumstances led to Mahmood asking the interview questions and, seizing his opportunity, the insightful Mahmood veered into new territories. These interviews form the rare and unique collection, Voices of Indian Cinema, from which we present one of the most critically acclaimed directors and authors of Indian Parallel Cinema, Mrinal Sen.

Along with fellow Bengalese director, Satyajit Ray, Mrinal Sen added a new voice to the content and form of the Indian Screen. Critical of Bollywood, Sen produced ground-breaking films, using 1960s counter-culture world cinema as inspiration. We explore the rich and uncanny contents of these interviews in this unmissable Screen Talk with the renowned writer, producer and Commissioning Editor Farrukh Dhondy and the award-winning scriptwriter and Film Producer, Mahmood Jamal.
