A special screening of Sangeeta Datta’s sumptuous new family drama Life Goes On.

The film is a freewheeling British-Asian adaptation of Shakespeare’s King Lear, a gripping emotional drama of generational conflict set in contemporary London, starring a range of Indian talent including Om Puri, Sharmila Tagore, Girish Karnad and Bollywood star Soha Ali Khan.

The British cast includes Rez Kempton, Misha Crosby, newcomer Neerja Naik, Mukulika Banerjee, Stef Patten and Chris Hatherall.

The film features a rich and vibrant soundtrack composed by Soumik Datta with legendary Bollywood script writer and song writer Javed Akhtar writing the lyrics and translating Tagore’s songs into Hindi for the first time. The music draws on Bangla folk, Turkish strains, French rap and the classical poetry of Tagore and Rumi.

Signed copies of the CD soundtrack will be available to buy at this event.
