Sabha is Sampad’s popular showcase for local and emerging talent in music, dance, theatre and spoken word.
This showcase will feature new work produced by four Creative Leap artists including:
- A contemporary dance performance choreographed by Keisha Grant inspired by the work of Zimbabwean sculptor Albert Nathan Mamvura
- Marlene McKenzie will perform ‘Lite’, an experimental theatre piece exploring the subject of identity through a young woman’s eyes’
- CDJ dance company will present an innovative street dance theatre piece on the theme of construction…expect the unexpected
- Giddha Sansaar will combine traditional Giddha, a popular Lawk Naach from the Punjab specifically for women, with alternative dance forms.

Dee Patel presents ‘Land of Hope and Glory’, a set of photographic portraits taken in Handsworth and Anna Fields* presents a series of large scale paintings exploring Britishness.
Creative Leap is a new professional development scheme which aims to give emerging artists the chance to kick start their careers and turn their creative ideas into reality. It is a collaborative project run in partnership by Sampad, Ulfah Arts and the Drum. It is funded by Birmingham City Council and Birmingham Cultural Partnership.
