Callout For South Asian Dance Practitioners
Are you an aspiring South Asian dance practitioner eager to make a meaningful impact in your community? Do you have a passion for preserving cultural heritage and promoting well-being through movement? If so, we invite you to be a part of our new initiative.
Following the success of our pilot project with Apna Ghar and Ghulab Ashram Housing, Sampad is thrilled to announce the expansion of our dance program for South Asian elders as part of BEDLAM 2024. We are seeking dedicated individuals to join us as Shadow Artists, co-leading weekly dance and movement sessions at various locations in and around Birmingham.
As a Shadow Artist, you will work alongside experienced South Asian dance practitioners, gaining invaluable insight and hands-on experience in working with the elderly. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the well-being of our elders while honing your skills and shaping the future of dance in our community.
This work, and the training session, is a paid for work opportunity. Fee to be discussed upon succesful applciation.
What You’ll Do:
- Co-lead weekly dance and movement sessions for South Asian elders.
- Learn from experienced practitioners in a supportive environment.
- Tailor workshops to accommodate different abilities and needs.
- Explore movements from Bharatnatyam, Bhangra, Kathak, and Bollywood.
What You’ll Gain:

Requirements:
- Passion for South Asian dance and cultural preservation.
- Enthusiasm for working with elder populations.
- Willingness to collaborate and learn from others.
- Availability to attend a training session on Saturday 15th June 2024
