Disability Awareness and Inclusion Training
For South Asian dance styles
Run by the Dance Leaders Group (DLG) and Sampad South Asian Arts and Heritage
About the training:
As part of the DLG’s Art Form Inclusivity Programme, Sampad are leading a session designed for trained dancers and dance tutors. It will equip attendees with the knowledge and practical tools needed to develop their skills for working in mixed-ability and disability-inclusive settings.
This day-long workshop will run from 10am – 4pm, with a lunch break. Please note that lunch is not provided.
The session will be led by Rashmi Becker. Rashmi has been dancing since a young age, and is the founder of Step Change Studios, an organisation which provides dance that is fun, accessible and inclusive for all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
Bursaries:
A limited number of training bursaries are available, offering up to £100 to support you to attend. The recipients of these bursaries will be decided in the selection process and reasonable travel costs can be covered for non-bursary participants.
Who can attend?
This opportunity is open to dancers who:
– Have trained in, or are experienced in South Asian dance forms
– Have experience of working part time or full time in a dance teaching role
– Are looking to upskill and expand their practice
– Are based in Birmingham or the West Midlands
