Maryam Wahid: Chai & Chat

This special edition of Chai and Chat features artist Maryam Wahid, My City My Home workshop leader Abda Khan and selected writers of My City My Home.

Maryam’s work addresses themes of loss, memory, displacement, identity and migration whilst importantly counterbalancing a celebratory future and the positive married life that the artist’s parents made for themselves in Birmingham.

My City, My Home, Sampad’s brand-new book featuring a collection of writings by women and girls in Birmingham (UK), Bangladesh and Pakistan gave women the chance to tell their own story, in their own voice. The book explores what made people feel that they belonged, and what made their city their home – from its people, buildings and arts, to their memories, journeys and emotions.

This informal event will respond to these themes through writing, poetry and spoken word.
