This month features composer and musician Praveen D Rao and Sanchita Pal.
Praveen is a versatile multi-instrumentalist with an international reputation, based in Bangalore. He is equally at home on a range of percussion, keyboards and electronic media.
As a composer, Praveen has created a style of his own fusing Hindusthani and Carnatic music with western techniques and over the past fifteen years has composed scores for theatre, ballet, film and television. He has worked extensively in the UK, composing music for Chitraleka Dance Company and Moby Duck Theatre Company. He recently released a CD, Earth n Beat with Carnatic violinist Jyotsna Srikanth.
Sanchita Pal, one of the most accomplished North Indian Classical vocal artists resident in the UK today.
Sanchita is an established teacher of Indian Classical vocal music in Birmingham. She is a lecturer in Indian Classical Music at the Birmingham Conservatoire where she teaches the only degree course on this subject in Europe.
