Seeta Patel: Shringara

Internationally-renowned dancer Seeta Patel presents the exhilarating classical Indian dance form of Bharatanatyam

Internationally-renowned dancer Seeta Patel presents the exhilarating classical Indian dance form of Bharatanatyam.

In this solo performance Seeta guides us through a fantasy world of the sacred woman and explores the complex nuances of desire.

Through 18th century music scores, the dancer challenges our perception of time, defining herself as a contemporary ‘instrument’ that channels the love poems of the past, making them live in the present.

‘Shringara: A journey of desire’ was premiered at the Royal Opera House, London to a sold out audience. With live music conducted by Mavin Khoo and lead vocals by the inspirational Pushkala Gopal, this is a much anticipated tour of one of the most exciting talents in the British Asian dance scene.

“Seeta embodies the delicate strength of Bharatanatyam with the style and grace of a dancer who has not only intelligence but an uncompromising devotion to the form. Her presence lights up the space, and her musicality is faultless.”
