The Centre for Advanced Dance Training is the first in the country that offers high quality training in Kathak and Bharatanatyam. The Centre’s Yuva Gati (‘youth movement’) course is led by a partnership between Sampad and DanceXchange with funding from the Department of Education.
Yuva Gati is aimed at 11–18 year olds across the country with an exceptional talent in dance – you don’t necessarily need to have prior training in South Asian styles of dance, just the passion and determination to pursue a career in dance.
Students can specialise in either Bharatanatyam or Kathak, and will attend residential training during half term and summer holidays at the DanceXchange studios. They are also encouraged to undertake weekly training from a local dance provider to strengthen their practice and training. (A student bursary is available to help support this additional training).
As well as working closely with their subject leader in intensive training sessions, students also get the opportunity to collaborate with UK and international artists. The subject leaders for Yuva Gati are Sujata Banerjee for Kathak and Anusha Subramanyam for Bharatanatyam; both tutors bring in a wealth of experience and expertise.
Yuva Gati Audition dates for 2018 are:
Saturday 7 July 2018 – Bharatanatyam
Sunday 8 July 2018 – Kathak
