Migration Stories: Stratford Road Walking Tour

“Exciting encounters, moving stories and places that you would never find on your own.” – past participant review.

Join us for a guided tour like no other, celebrating the fascinating history and cultures of the Stratford Road.

Once described as ‘the gateway of Birmingham’ has seen many migrants settle along it, due to its unique location and affordable housing. From the diverse communities, the memories of the people who lived here will be brought to life by our friendly walk leaders who will guide and talk through the road’s changing scene:

Discover new cuisines from the various restaurants within a mile radius.

See beautiful places of worship.

Learn about community, memories and history in a dynamic, animated way.

You will start at The Bordesley Centre and explore the stories of the migrants that came to call this place home. Learn about the famous Balti triangle as you venture through the bustling and lively atmosphere boasting numerous Pakistani and Indian grocers, fashion retailers, cafes and more.

Please note that if you wish to bring a pushchair, we ask that you contact the team. Service animals are allowed but please let us know if you are bringing one. Please note that pets are not allowed on this walking tour.
