With just one week left before Twilight Mantra: ASH at Cafe Artum, Hockley Social Club, it’s time to introduce our talented musicians.
Twilight Mantra: ASH will be a magical evening of music, blending Indian classical and contemporary soundscapes. The concert will feature Akash Parekar, Shivam Pattni and Harkiran Sahota.
Akash Parekar: Sitar & Electronics
Leading the ASH Trio, Akash Parekar is a rising star in the new wave of British-born sitar players. He masterfully intertwines Indian classical sitar with his deep-rooted influences from Western classical and contemporary music. Akash’s intricate interpretations of traditional ragas promise to transport audiences into a world of soulful melody and rhythm.
Shivam Pattni: Multi-Instrumentalist
Shivam is a versatile vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer with a rich musical background that spans Western choral music, jazz, and traditional bhajans. In recent years, Shivam has returned to his musical roots, studying under the esteemed Dr. Nagaraj Rao Halavdar, a leading proponent of the Kirana Gharana and direct disciple of Bharat Ratna Pt. Bhimsen Joshi.
Harkiran Sahota: Percussionist
Being enthralled by the sound and artistry of tabla from a young age, Harkiran started by learning the basics from his father, Surendar Singh Sahota. In 2014 he became the disciple of the world renowned tabla maestro Pandit Sanju Sahai. Harkiran’s tabla journey has been one of growth and learning with notable performances along the way, including accompanying artists such as Jasdeep Singh Degun and Roopa Panesar whilst also performing at many Guru Poornima ceremonies.
