Sampad Associate Schools Update #1: Three Busy Months!

By the Sampad Learning Team

This post looks at the highlights of the past few months, showcasing Sampad Associate School’s commitment to creativity, collaboration, and community engagement. From training sessions to marvel-lous exhibitions, join us as we reflect on our endeavors and offer a glimpse into the exciting projects on the horizon.

Reflecting on January

January kicked off with a bang as we hosted the ‘Artists in Schools’ training at Midlands Arts Centre. Thanks to support from the John Feeney Trust, we were able to offer payment to 8 talented artists participating in the programme, which delved into the nuances of working in educational settings. Rochi Rampal’s facilitation added an invaluable dimension to the session.

Additionally, January marked the launch of Subhash Viman’s captivating exhibition, ‘Marvel at My World,’ at the Library of Birmingham. This exploration of Hindu Gods and Superheroes sparked excitement for what lay ahead for Sampad Associate Schools.

Our commitment to educational outreach continued with our regular school programming, including the City of Empire to City of Diversity exhibition touring schools and a plethora of workshops and staff CPD sessions.

Moving into February

February sustained January’s momentum with workshops and CPD sessions at one of our Sapphire Sampad Associate schools. The partnership has been transformative, as evidenced by the headteacher’s feedback regarding the impact on students’ and teachers learning:

Teachers spoke of how much the children enjoyed the sessions and how they were able to apply skills from other areas of the curriculum… We received high quality CPD through Sampad which was easily integrated into our teaching and which saw immediate impact.

During half term, we led Marvel at My World outreach days at the Library of Birmingham and Dolphin Women’s Centre. The month concluded with the inception of an exciting collaboration with the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, hinting at the thrilling projects to come.

March: A Month of Collaboration

March buzzed with collaboration! From workshops in the Black Country to celebrating Shakespeare Week with a vibrant performance at Blists Hill Victorian Living Museum, students throughout the region left a mark through creativity and culture.

We also supported Simran Sheemar, our Dance Leaders Group Youth Ambassador, in conducting Bollywood and Bhangra sessions across secondary schools, receiving rave reviews from participants and staff alike.

Culminating the month was a dynamic Superhero Martial Arts day at one of our Sapphire schools, concluding a rewarding and busy term!
