We are delighted to be receiving support from digital commissioning agency The Space to stream our production, About the Elephant to online audiences on Saturday 29 September 2018.
The online stream will celebrate the final date of the UK tour as it is performed to a sell-out audience at Dance City Newcastle.
About The Elephant is an internationally successful dance and music collaboration, which features BBC Young Dancer stars Connor Scott and Vidya Patel, and renowned musician and composer Shammi Pithia.
Piali Ray, Director of Sampad South Asian Arts, says: “About the Elephant is a very topical production, showcasing the tremendous talent of young British artists and demonstrating the incredible results when artists with different cultural roots and diverse practices come together. We are delighted to be bringing the piece to a greater audience with support from The Space, and we hope the project continues to push the boundaries of what defines South Asian art within the UK.”
Fiona Morris, Chief Executive and Creative Director of The Space, says: “The Space is delighted to be working with Sampad on About the Elephant, a work which combines Kathak and contemporary dance styles perfectly. The project will help build the organisation’s digital capacity, provide a showcase for its work and reach a range of new audiences online.”
The free to view online stream will be broadcast on facebook/sampad.arts on Saturday 29 September 2018, 7.30pm.
About The Elephant stars Vidya Patel, Shammi Pithia and Connor Scott. It is co-commissioned by Sampad South Asian Arts & Heritage, Serendipity Arts Trust and Midlands Arts Centre.
