Sampad Young Producers Training Opportunity 2026

Sangam: One Community, Many Voices 

Are you a young creative with ideas? Do you want to create your own event, shape culture and work with a professional arts organisation? 

Sampad is looking for a group of young producers (aged 18–21) to take part in an exciting new programme that will lead to an event taking place on 30th September 2026. 

You’ll work together to plan, programme and deliver a live showcase event, built by young people, for young people. 

What You’ll Do 

As a Sampad Young Producer, you will: 

  • Work with a team of 4 to create your own event (e.g. spoken word night, showcase, performance, live storytelling, or something completely new)  
  • Shape the creative idea and theme – An event for young people, designed by young emerging producers! 
  • Manage a real budget (£1,200)  
  • Work with our Marketing and Programmer Managers to learn about how we work with artists and audiences  
  • Lead on social media and promotion  
  • Research what young people your own age are interested in attending and help bring those audiences into your own Sampad event 
  • Help deliver the event live

What You’ll Learn 

With support from the Sampad team, you’ll get stuck into how arts events are actually made – planning and producing, working with budgets, collaborating as a team and turning ideas into something real. You’ll also learn how to engage audiences and build excitement around an event. 

Eligibility Criteria 

We’re looking for: 

  • Young people aged 18–21  
  • Based in or around Birmingham / West Midlands  
  • With an interest in arts, culture, events or creative ideas 

You don’t need experience, you just need ideas, curiosity and a willingness to work as part of a team. 

Where & When 

  • Applications close on the 20th July.
  • Sessions will take place in Birmingham (the majority at our base in the Midlands Arts Centre)  
  • 10 sessions taking place between 23 July and 30 September. Sessions will be delivered weekly as 1.5-hour workshops, with two sessions taking place in the final week ahead of the event.  
  • Final event will take place on the 30th September

What is Sangam? 

Sangam means coming together. 

This programme is inspired by the 2026 South Asian Heritage Month theme: Unity in Diversity — celebrating the many voices, identities and experiences that make up South Asian communities in the UK. We will announce our four chosen Young Producers during this month, with the first of the 10 sessions also beginning as part of South Asian Heritage Month.
